Maryam Saleh, PhD

Maryam is passionate about moving ideas into the market, where it can have impact and improve lives.

She is entrepreneur-in-residence at Abundant Venture Partners, where her current mandate is to build a business that enables health systems to predict when individuals are in need of a healthcare intervention, by analyzing their behavior.

Maryam has spent most of her career in healthcare, starting companies or incubating startups. She was part of the launch team at MATTER, Chicago’s hub for healthcare innovation, where her team designed programs to support the needs of over 200 healthcare startups.

She also founded the Center for Device Development at Northwestern University, where she hired doctors and engineers to build medical device businesses, based on a vetted unmet need. Earlier in her career, she was a founding member of Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology Systems Inc., a company that built a brain implant to restore movement in severely paralyzed individuals.

She holds a B.Sc. in Computer engineering from Brown University and a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Chicago
