Mal is a senior executive with extensive strategy, technology, innovation, and consulting experience (bridging business and IT). Throughout his career he has established a consistent record of leading innovative global transformation programs and alliances for complex, multi-billion-dollar global organizations, while generating consulting revenues of more than €1.7 billion. In his current position as Head of Living Health Dynamic Platform at Highmark Health, he has built the technology and architecture framework on which to delivery US healthcare transformation for the coming 3 years (to include leading back-office cloud infrastructure deployment and frontoffice ‘share care intelligence’ and its appropriate orchestration).

Before this, Mal was the VP and Chief Technology officer at IQVIA, where he led the innovative transformation and strategic direction for clinical trials (joined June 2015). This included new industry (process engineering) orchestration design and delivery; building a new corporate architecture team and governance processes (winning award for virtual trials); creating the new wave of artificial intelligence and machine learning capability (over 50 algorithms delivered with $50m benefits) including a new, patent pending, platform covering development, ‘bootcamp’ training and operations; CEO reporting on a 3-5 year roadmap of emerging technologies and industry disruptors – co-managing a program reviewing new global lead startups (in Israel and San Francisco).

In parallel advising healthcare startup companies in areas such as a new way to define the internet for more patient-based access control to information at a quanta level; work in creating a new AI/ML assistant for diagnosis; looking at new ways for insights using federated analytics; development of new technologies for early recognition of neurology-based diseases, Etc. In his previous 5-year career as Global CTO at Ernst & Young (EY), with a base in New York, he was responsible for delivering key transformation programs and recruiting, mentoring, growing internal talent. Accomplishments here included: developed innovation strategy and IT direction for J&J (won global award); a new customer identity approach for Walt Disney; new business and IT strategy for National Grid (building to a business of $50m a year); new business-to-business operational model for the Canadian government; Etc.

Previous to this was an 11-year career with Capgemini (Principal, Global Lead Architect and Major Program Lead) that covered: managing a $500m program at GM (served on GM’s IT Board of Directors); leading the pharma industry drug security initiative with MIT; when based in Paris led all group strategic alliances with companies including SAP, Microsoft, IBM and Cisco, and secured a $50 million co-investment from Sun Microsystems (delivering them a return of over $900m). Earlier in his career, Mal held management positions in mathematics, technology, marketing, and strategic planning at AXA Insurance Group in London.

Mal has CXO connections at most lead technology vendors and a strong peer-to-peer CIO network with many global top CIO’s. In 2018 was recognized as 1 of top 25 global chief architects and previously was voted within the global top 10 CTO’s. Mal is passionate at building next generation business models enabled through emerging technologies. Mal is a frequent keynote speaker on the CXO circuit and has worked extensively across North America, Europe (most countries) and Asia (Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore).
