John has held a wide variety of analytic leadership roles throughout his career. He recently retired from Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee, where he led the enterprise data literacy initiative and contributed to the development of the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute. John loves to teach analytics and related disciplines at many levels including high school, college, professional and executive. Through his affiliation with The Data Lodge, he is an active and pioneering contributor to the data literacy movement. He is a member of the International Institute for Analytics’ Expert Network where he advises IIA clients on analytic talent management, data visualization, data strategy, and other topics.

He serves on several academic, industry, and nonprofit boards. When not crunching numbers or creating data visualizations, he’s usually birding, gardening, or jamming with his bandmates.
