Carole Piovesan

Carole is a Partner and co-Founder of INQ Data Law in Toronto, Canada, where she focuses on data governance, privacy law, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Carole has advised the Canadian government on legal and policy issues related to AI, and regularly advises companies on matters involving their collection, storage and use of personal information. She was appointed by Canada’s Minister of Innovation, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, to serve as one of six innovation experts to lead the data and digital consultations on the Minister’s behalf. Carole is an internationally recognized expert on legal and policy issues relating to data and AI and is a frequent speaker and author on these topics.

Prior to co-founding INQ, Carole was a lawyer at McCarthy Tétrault where she served as co-lead of the firm’s National Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Management group and was the lead author of the firm’s white paper on the legal implications of Artificial Intelligence.
