Michael Barber is Director of Data Science R&D at Highmark Health. This group is engaged in diverse analytic efforts in support of high impact projects across the Enterprise.

With over 20 years of management and analytics experience in multiple industries, Michael has optimized scheduling and delivery processes, implemented lean and just-in-time production methods, and developed high-performing financial models. He is an active member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and a participant in the Analytics Leadership Consortium of the International Institute for Analytics.

Michael holds a B.S. in Geoscience and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics. He has worked as sedimentologist and sonar technician aboard research ships, taught high school and undergraduate mathematics, and has presented volcanology and remote sensing research results at national and international conferences.
